UFC 103 is fast approaching, and Bad Boy fighter Juior ‘Cigano’ dos Santos is looking to take down Croatian fighter Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic in his run to a Heavyweight title shot.

‘Top Contending Heavyweights Clash!’ Up-and-coming Junior ‘Cigano’ Dos Santos (8-1-0) takes on hard-kicking Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic (25-6-2). On September 19, 2009, Brazilian and Bad Boy Fighter, Junior ‘Cigano’ Dos Santos will be taking on Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic on the main card of the highly anticipated UFC 103, on pay-per-view or at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas. Junior’Cigano’ Dos Santos (25) didn’t take a single MMA lesson until he was 21, After two first round TKOs against the likes of Fabricio Werdum, a top contender in the Heavyweight division at the time, and Stefan Struve, he is now a top contender in the Heavyweight division in the UFC. The hard-hitting Brazilian will have his hands full with his toughest task yet, in the form of the Croatian fighter, Mirko Cro Cop (34). Dos Santos (6’4″ and 238 lbs.) will have the size advantage against the smaller Cro Cop (6’2″ and 220 lbs.). However, the experience advantage will definately go to the Croatian, Pride’s 2006 Open-Weight Grand Prix Champion. Out of Cro Cop’s 25 victories, 19 have come by way of (T)KO. What’s even more interesting, is over half of those 19 (T)KOs were because of kicks to the head, body, or legs. He is considered to have the deadliest legs in mixed martial arts.
Dos Santos isn’t exactly a push-over though. Out of his 8 wins, 6 were by way of (T)KO and 2 by submission. Only 4 years into mixed matial arts, Dos Dantos has recieved a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he is a former kickboxing champion with an 18-0 record. There isn’t a clear advantage for either fighter, which leaves this fight with the potential for destruction and greatness. |
