Controversial Decision Sparks Outrage in the MMA Community

At UFC 104, fans, fighters, and even the President of the UFC were left in disbelief and/or outrage. Everyone saw that same fight, and almost everyone agreed that Shogun had won that fight. Every one except for the three judges. Shogun beat machida, a man considered untouchable before this fight, from head to toe. Yet the three judges all scored it for Machida.

Then almost all of the 16,000 people in the Staples Center booed, and millions watching the pay-per-view started facebooking and tweeting their displeasure. Questions and conspiracy theories started coming up. Did the judges see the same fight as us? Were the judges payed and was this a fixed fight? Millions of people tuned in to see the exact same fight the judges saw, and I think it is safe to say that <b>at least</b> 90% of the viewers felt Shogun won. </p> <p> Shogun dominated at the very least three rounds, if not the entire fight. By the end of the match, the least hit man in UFC history (Machida) had welts all over his legs, obvious bruising on the left side of his ribs, a split lip and bruised face. Shogun had maybe a couple bruises on his legs. In the post-fight press conference, Machida didn’t look or sound like someone who had won. Lyoto Machida was supposed to be the perfect fighter, this puzzle that no one could figure out. Dana White said himself “I thought ‘Shogun’ won the fight,” and promised an immediate rematch, no matter what the outcomes of other top light heavyweight fights. Afterwards both fighters had agreed on a rematch. Personally, I would love to see Shogun come into the second match and dominate…again. <p> Shogun will be feeding off this “loss” as motivation to destroy Machida in the rematch, not just do enough to win. Machida had better come in actually prepared if he wants to stand a chance against Shogun. </td> </tr> </table> <p>
