Roger Huerta fought on September 16 in the last fight on his UFC contract. I would have to say that it was easily one of the best fights that I have ever seen, and trust me I’ve seen my fair share of fights.
‘Huerta Has One Crazy Last Fight’ Roger ‘El Matador’ Huerta went up against Gray Mayanrd on September 16, for what could have easily been named Fight of the Night. At the Cox Convention Center, Roger Huerta fought Gray Maynard in very trilling bout. Huerta lost via split decision, but he made sure that his last fight was a show for the fans to remember. Huerta has always been known for having a solid chin and it was on display last night when Maynard landed some very nice big right hands. He pushed Maynard harder than anyone else has in a fight, as this is the first decision that he hasn’t won unanimously. In the first round of the fight, Huerta landed a big right that dropped Maynard, but he got up quickly. Huerta took some good shots, but they didn’t seem to phase him at all. He landed a lot of good combinations which led to him winning the round. The second round went to Maynard, as he decided to take the fight to the ground and grind out the round. The third round also went to Maynard, but this round showcased the heart of Roger Huerta. Maynard had a kimora sunk in on Huerta very deep. However, instead of tapping, Huerta twisted his arm around to where his shoulder blade and shoulder looked like they were going to pop out of his skin. Huerta gave it his all for the last fight on his contract. I hope that he has a good acting career, but after this performance, and watching that crazed look come over his face, I think he belongs in the UFC. I’m sure that I am not alone when I say that I hope he comes back to the UFC, and soon. |
