In a match that was supposed to be a battle on the ground, the two fighters seemed completely happy with keeping most of the fight standing. </p> <p>The first two rounds went pretty much the same. Both fighters were content with keeping the fight standing. Even though this was most likely Miller’s game plan from the start, Maia was definitely the more aggressive of the two fighters, as he landed solid punches and left very few openings for any counter strikes. Paulo Thiago became a top contender in his division as he won his third fight against a top-ten welterweight groomed by the American Kickboxing Academy. The Bad Boy fighter is now 13-1 and 3-1 in the UFC.</p> <p> The fight started off with the two fighters trying to get used to each other. They exchanged punches throughout the first round, but both fighters seemed cautious to really let their fists fly, as they were wary of counter strikes. The second round started the same as the first round ended, until Swick landed a solid right that moved Thiago backwards. Swick rushed in and was met with two punch combo that ended with a left hook, which sent Swick to the ground. Thiago immediately followed up with a perfect example of a D’arce choke, which had Swick unconscious within seconds. </p> <p>
